Lately I’ve been posting my insights on cards that I pull from the various Tarot and Oracle card decks in my collection, just for this space. For today’s post, I wanted to share a recent true story on how the Universe orchestrates events in my life.
The Universe set the stage for a “chance” meeting, 5 years in the making, between me and a woman–involving a reading on tape.
As I’ve written in the past, I attend Unity, a New Thought movement that emphasizes a positive path for spiritual living. I serve in a number of capacities at my local Unity church, one of them being a volunteer in our bookstore. While working behind the counter, I was asked to platform minister (another way I serve) a week ago by the head of the platform ministry, for the Sunday that has just passed (following the Christmas holiday). Due to the holiday, scheduling was tight and she asked if I would platform for both our 9:30am and 11:15am services, when I usually only do the second. I agreed to do both services.
After the first service, a woman came up to me. She said, “I don’t know if you remember me or not, but 5 years ago you did a Tarot reading for me and recorded it on tape. I just want you to know that I still listen to it, and it still has a lot of value and meaning for me 5 years later.” She then went on to tell me that she was only in town for the holiday and would be leaving, but was happy that she got the chance to see me and tell me.
What I love about this is that the first service is a service I don’t attend or platform for normally. And the day I agreed to be present is the day this woman just “happens” to be there.
Some people might consider that to be just a “co-incidence,” or just “chance.” Really, though? I don’t think so. I see it as an orchestration of the Universe. It is a synchronistic event. Synchronicities are patterns that repeat in time. The word ‘synchronicity’ references the gears or wheels of time, although the actual concept of synchronicity cannot be scientifically proven. We can only record synchronicities as they occur and watch the patterns of behavior that create them. This is how it is commonly explained in the metaphysical circles I travel in.
Synchronicities may occur to make a quick point. When they happen, we are being encouraged to look at the bigger picture of the synchronicity, to think outside the box, (the patterns of reality) and not at the actual experience.
I began this post sharing a synchronistic event in my life, and I end it with a question: How about you? What events have you experienced that you are writing off as co-incidence, chance, or luck?
