When the Tarot card for today, the Ace of Cups, is offered to you, its message is that you are about to experience a new chapter in your emotional and/or spiritual life.
Aces in Tarot always suggest the beginning of a new phase in life. The Ace is the root, the seed; it suggests potential for the future. The suit of Cups is the suit that rules the heart; it is about emotions, feelings, and relationships—the way we connect and relate to others.
For me, this is the second best card to appear in a reading (the first being The Sun card). With that, the Ace of Cups is about joy, happiness, and abundance—your cup runneth over!
When the Ace of Cups appears, you may be in the throes of a new relationship—and all those exciting feelings and sensations that go along with it. Or, this card can suggest a birth of some kind (a child, a project, or even a business endeavor), and it is something you have a great deal of love for.
If you are feeling the need for a new emotional experience, the Ace of Cups asks the question: What would you need to know, consider, or do—to be open and willing—to have that new experience you are seeking? The cup is a symbol of receptivity—are you as receptive as you might think you are?
For the spiritual seeker, this card suggests communion with the Divine (whatever that means for you). As the image on the card has a smaller cup emerging from a larger one, we are all vessels of Spirit—and we all carry the essence of the Greater Spirit within each of us. We are all individualized expressions of Spirit—no matter how we express ourselves at any given moment (we have to remember that when we—and those around us—are not expressing ourselves/themselves at the highest potential we/they are capable).
Finally, consider if you might be needing to have your “love tank” filled up. If you’re the giving type, be mindful of your giving nature—and when you’ve given so much that you’re now depleted and running on empty. It might be time to step back and allow yourself to get filled back up. Take the time to give to yourself (Aces are numbered 1, which is the number of the individual)—because you can’t give to others what you don’t have yourself.
