Today’s Tarot: Are You Paying Attention?

When our Tarot card for today, the 4 of Cups, floats by, you may be experiencing what this card calls “Divine Discontent.”

The feeling (Cups rules the realm of our feelings and emotions) may be of boredom, that life right now seems like it “the same old same old.” The 4 of Cups can suggest sulking and moping about the things you are experiencing.

The advice this card is offering you is similar to the scene in “Moonstruck” when Cher slaps Nicolas Cage and yells, “Snap out of it!”

But every card has a flip side.

On a positive note, this card can suggest help is on the way, symbolized by the cup floating on the cloud in the air next to our sulking young man. He just has to be willing to pay attention and notice the sign that has appeared; right now, he can’t see what’s being offered to him because he is preoccupied and distracted by the three cups in front of him.

The cup in the cloud suggests that “signs” don’t come flashing in neon (Wouldn’t that be great?!). Rather, most of them are more subtle, coming like wisps of air.

Don’t get so caught up with what’s going on around you, that you let a gift or opportunity pass you by—because you didn’t notice it staring you right in the face when you had the chance.
