Today’s Tarot: 3 of Cups – The Dance of Life

This week’s Tarot reading had two cards (4 of Swords and 7 of Cups) that shared the message of paying attention to our dreams.

The hymn

The hymn “Amazing Grace” played an important part in a dream I had this morning.

As the week begins to come to a close, I woke this Sunday morning, recalling a dream: I am in a classroom that looks like an auditorium. We are being led by a person on stage to stand and join in singing “Amazing Grace.” I reach for a hymnal at my desk, but another man approaches me, takes the book from me, and says I don’t need it. I begin singing and clapping my hands, noticing that some people are now dancing to the hymn.

After recording the dream in my journal, I pull the card for the day, from the Robin Wood Tarot: 3 of Cups.

The first thing I notice is that the three women on the card are dancing!

The 3 of Cups, from the Robin Wood Tarot, was a synchronistic follow-up to my dream.

Being a card of celebration, the 3 of Cups is asking us to find ways to celebrate life. For me, one way to do it is to listen to music and dance. Dancing, symbolically, is a form of creative expression (and matches one of the meanings of the number 3). Life has its own rhythm, and we are invited to be Its dancing partner, coming up with the choreography that is unique to us.

But that’s me.

Today, consider the ways you celebrate life. Keeping with the card, it might be hanging out with friends (your “girls,” your “boys,” your “posse”). It might be sharing mutual interests and hobbies with like-minded people. It might be uniting with others for a social cause and celebrating when a victory is achieved.

Whatever it might be for you, the 3 of Cups is your dance card. Who will you invite to join you for a dance?
