A new week is upon us, which means it’s time for another weekly Tarot reading!
This week’s reading was conducted using the Lo Scarabeo Tarot by Mark McElroy & Anna Lazzarini.
If you’re no stranger here, you know I take the deck and shuffle it, pulling three cards: the first would be a card to show us what our Overall Experience of the week might be like; the second would be Guidance/Advice Tarot is offering us for our consideration, and as empowerment to move through the week; and the third card would show us a Possible Outcome of our efforts by the week’s end.
This week’s video reveals the cards for our reading:
If you prefer to read the post, here it is:
Our cards for this week are:
- Overall Experience: Ace of Swords
- Guidance/Advice: The Empress
- Possible Outcome: 3 of Wands

Your Week in Tarot: Ace of Swords, The Empress, and 3 of Wands, from the Lo Scarabeo Tarot by Mark McElroy & Anna Lazzarini.
For our Overall Experience this week, we have the Ace of Swords (the card literally jumped out of the deck while I was shuffling!).
When the Ace of Swords is being handed to you, it signals that a triumph, a victory, and a success is coming your way!
Aces herald the beginning of a new chapter, stage, or phase in your life. Seeds are being planted that have the potential to grow into something wonderful. For me, the Ace of Swords can suggest the beginning stages of a new lifestyle, and part of that could mean a job or career change.
This particular Ace often means a new thought, idea, or concept suddenly coming to you that gives you clarity, that presents the answer or solution to a problem you’ve been experiencing.
And since I mention problems, the suit of Swords is a suit that is known to represent challenges. The Ace of Swords, in this sense, could suggest a bumpy start on the way to things becoming clear, or leading to that triumph, victory, and success.
Also, Swords can represent the way we communicate, and that words are double-edged: they have the power to both harm and heal. How will you use your words this week?
The Ace of Swords, being a card of Truth, asks us to stand in our truth—and to be truthful—without intentionally causing harm to others. Because the Truth is that what we inflict on another will be inflicted on us.
In the position of Guidance/Advice, we have The Empress. When this card appears in a reading, one of the things you are being asked to nurture your creative side.
Most people, when they think of “creativity,” they automatically think of the artist, the musician, and the poet–and then think they are not creative. In my former life (my past, before becoming an intuitive guidance counselor), I was a cartoonist, so I know this to be true from the many conversations I’ve had with people when they would view my work (a lot of people sharing the sentiment of “not being able to draw a straight line, or a stick figure”).
If that is true for you, come closer, so I can let you in on a little secret: You ARE creative. Every single one of us is a creative being.
Our Empress here tells us this truth. She is pregnant, which is the most creative act we (those who want to have children, anyway) can participate in. This means that we are all born creative beings. We create life. We create the lives we live.
So, this week, the Empress is asking you to consider taking a look at the life you have created. Do you like your creation? If not, perhaps this week can be the start of your re-creation. What possibilities could you become pregnant with? Let this be your week of conception!
Keeping with the pregnancy theme, this would make our Empress an expectant mother, and taking on the role of caretaker. This week, The Empress is encouraging those of us who take care of others (whether personally or professionally) to be mindful of making sure we are also taking care of ourselves. When we practice good self-care, it puts us in a position to better care for those around us who need and depend on us.
How can you better care and nurture yourself this week?
When you see the 3 of Wands on your horizon, which is the card of the Possible Outcome this week, you may be waiting for your ship(s) to come in (that’s the typical image on this card; here, our fellow is looking like he’s waiting for just the right “signal” coming from the fire that’s burning).
You are beginning to see the results (the number 3) of the work you have put into a situation–but there may be additional elements you still need to wait on.
This is a wonderful card for practitioners of the Law of Attraction, as the 3 is the number of abundance and manifestation (its connection to the third card in the Major Arcana, The Empress, which just so happens to also appear in this week’s reading). It is a time of increase.
In the vein of the LoA, you may be encouraged to check your thinking—and be open to new ideas (the Ace of Swords), as well as creating, in the words of Abraham-Hicks, better feeling thoughts (The Empress), which will lead to new manifestations (3 of Wands).
You may also be needing and/or gaining the support of others at this time (this might be one of the ways to practice good self-care by creating—a reference to the number 3 again—a support system around you).
This card says that now is the time to give birth to that new enterprise (Wands representing business). Some of the enterprises I associate with this card can involve import/export, anything to do with shipping, or the internet. Part of the process is to consider what the vision is for this enterprise (most enterprises have a vision and mission statement).
If self-employment or entrepreneurship isn’t your thing, this card can also indicate actively looking for work. This is a time for you to explore all options and broaden your horizons in your job search.
No matter the situation, prospects for the future look very promising.
“The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades.”
And, on that note (the above line is from a song), another weekly reading comes to a close.
I look forward to sharing this space here with you again next week! Until then…have a Tarot-tastic week!
