Oracle Outlook: Lenormand Reading for July 25-31, 2016

This week I’m having another “blue moon” effect, as this is the second week this month there’s a Lenormand reading for the Oracle Outlook. The month of July opened with a Lenormand reading, and this week closes out July with another.

The particular deck I’m working with this week is the classic Piatnik Lenormand. Taking the deck in hand, I’m shuffling the cards, asking what we might expect for the week ahead.

The cards for the week are: Rider, Birds, Lady, Tree, and Cross.

The Focus of the Reading

Our focus card this week, which is in the middle of the line, is Lady (also known as Woman).

Being a significator card, Lady refers to a woman who’s at the center of things that transpire this week. If you’re reading this, and you’re a woman, this card can represent you; if you’re a man checking this out, Lady can point to a significant woman in your life.

And Lady just indicates a woman. So the other cards in the line are especially important, as the surrounding cards will tell us more about who the woman might be—and what she might be doing this week.

Looking at Combinations in the Line

The cards immediately flanking Lady, Birds and Tree, form a pair that I read in a Line of 5 as something more in-depth about the focus (Lady).

Birds is a card, for me, that can be about communication and conversation. I read Birds as speaking, so it could be that the woman is a public speaker, or that she’ll be giving some kind of talk or speech. It could even suggest that the woman may be talkative, like a “Chatty Cathy.”

Birds could suggest the possibility of the woman being nervous or anxious about the talk or speech, or that the chattiness comes from being nervous or anxious about speaking in public.

It could also be that there will be conversation about a woman this week. Birds, in that case, could suggest that there could be some gossip, rumor, or speculation around the woman.

I talked about the emotional side of Birds with the idea of being nervous or anxious. Another emotion I associate with Birds is frustration, so there could either be frustration with a woman, or that the woman herself will be(come) frustrated.

Tree is a card of health and healing. I also read Tree as roots (foundation) and “branching out.”

So, some possibilities with Birds + Tree are a conversation about health; a speech or talk about healing; and frustration with healing (adding that Tree could include the process taking a long time, and requires patience).

The woman (Lady) could be a healer (Tree) and giving a talk (Birds) about health and well-being (Tree). The talk may be a part of the woman’s efforts to “branch out” (Tree) and develop more connections (Tree).

Another possibility is that there could also be growing frustration (Birds + Tree) centering on a woman (Lady).

The outer cards, Rider and Cross, can offer information that would sum things up.

Rider is a card of news and messages, as well as a card of a visit or arrival. From time to time, I also see Rider as meaning an eligible young man.

Cross is a challenging card in that it can mean burdens and difficulties, as well as a crisis or ordeal. I also read it as representing faith, religion, and spirituality.

So, Rider + Cross can suggest news (Rider) of a crisis or an ordeal (Cross), or a message (Rider) that’s difficult or a burden (Cross) to bear (think of having a “cross to bear”).

The pairing could also suggest the message (Rider) being critical (Cross) and necessary (Cross). With Tree + Cross, the message could be about the need for healing (Tree) during a difficulty (Cross).

If the woman is a healer and giving a talk on health and well-being, the message (Rider) may have either a religious or spiritual component (Cross) to it. This is further reinforced by Tree + Cross, which could be read as a spiritual healer or a faith healer.

Since Lady is placed firmly in the center of the line, we can take into account the direction she’s facing. She’s looking in the direction of Rider and Birds, which could be read as something she’s facing in her near future.

Again, it could be said the woman is facing speaking or giving a talk (Lady facing Birds). With Rider coming after Birds, another possible scenario is that a woman (Lady) is anxiously looking forward (Lady facing Birds) to the arrival (Rider) or visit (Rider) of an eligible young man (Rider).

This would make sense, given that Birds can also represent a relationship or partnership. For the woman, there may have been some speculation about the direction of the relationship, and the arrival or visit of the young man leads to a conversation about where things might be going in the future for the couple.

And another possibility is that a woman (Lady) receives some frustrating news (Rider + Birds).

With Lady not facing Tree and Cross, this could be a reference to her past. One possibility is that the woman (Lady) has a background as a spiritual healer (Tree + Cross), and that could have come about as a result of healing (Tree) from a difficulty (Cross) that required a great deal of faith (Cross).

The Line as a Whole

As I wrap up, I like to consider the line as a whole, reading it from left-to-right.

Taking everything into account from the pairings, a possible summation could be, “A message (Rider) spoken (Birds) by a woman (Lady) about healing (Tree) that is critical and necessary (Cross) during a difficulty (Cross).”

A woman sent me a message about the video of this reading, which I post on my YouTube channel before writing the text version for the blog.

For her, the Lady card pointed to Hilary Clinton, who the woman has a great deal of frustration with. It wasn’t lost on her that the cards would “talk” about her (Hilary Clinton) as we prepare for the Democratic National Convention to take place this week here in the United States.

So, it will be interesting to hear about what’s being said this week, in that context.

But Lenormand can offer a number of possibilities, so in the next post, I’ll take a peek at the playing cards in the reading, as well as the numbers on the cards, for any additional insights.
