It’s Monday once again, which means a new Oracle Outlook! And, keeping with the rotation of Tarot, Lenormand, and Angel cards in this space, the Lenormand is up for this week’s reading.
The particular deck I’m working with this week is the classic Piatnik Lenormand. Taking the deck in hand, I’m shuffling the cards, asking what we might expect for the week ahead.
The video below reveals the cards in the reading:
If you prefer to read the post, here it is:
The cards for the week are: Heart, Letter, Bear, Anchor, and Stars.
The Focus of the Reading
Our focus card this week, which is in the middle of the line, is Bear.
Two of my keywords for Bear are strength and power. As the focus card, Bear could be alluding to the possibility that strength may be required to get through the week (depending on what’s presented in the surrounding cards), or that you’ll be stronger as a person after having gone through certain situations throughout the week.
To back that up, in the video of the reading, I was hearing Britney Spears singing her song “Stronger” in my mind, which has that implication, as she sings of being “stronger than yesterday.”
With regard to power, my first thought was that this could be a week of standing in your personal power.
Speaking of power, I refer to Bear as the “boss” card, so there may be issues pertaining to a boss, manager, or person of authority as well.
Looking at Combinations in the Line
The cards immediately flanking Bear, Letter and Anchor, form a pair that I read in a Line of 5 as something more in-depth about the focus (Bear).
Letter is a card of news and messages, specifically those in written form. So this card can refer to an actual letter, an e-mail or even a text message. Pairing Bear with Letter, there’s a powerful message or a message from a boss or an authority figure.
Letter can also be a reference to paperwork and documents, and with Bear, can suggest paperwork that becomes manageable (Bear as manager), or documents about resources (Bear as a card of resources).
Anchor, for me, is a card for work, which makes Bear as a boss or manager a “stronger” possibility.
Anchor can further suggest this boss or manager has been working in his or her position for a long time, as Anchor can imply work that’s long-term. As a manager, Anchor would describe the person as hard-working and serious.
So, the trio of Letter + Bear + Anchor can be read as a message (Letter) from a boss or manager (Bear) at work (Anchor).
The outer cards, Heart and Stars, can offer information that would sum things up.
Heart can be about love and romance, as it’s a card connected to feelings and affection. I tend to read heart as passion and enthusiasm first, unless surrounding cards suggest otherwise.
Pairing Bear with Heart, there’s the passion and enthusiasm of a boss, manager, or leader. Bear would further add that this passion and enthusiasm is strong and powerful.
I also read Heart as a fan, as fans profess their love for those they adore (adoration). Going with that, Heart + Bear could be read as a fan of the boss—which could be because the boss is seen as having a heart.
Stars is a card that can suggest a wish comes true, as I think of “when you wish upon a star.” This bodes well, with Stars being at the end of the line. Anchor, which comes before Stars in the line, can mean hope, so there’s hope that a wish comes true pertaining to work (Anchor).
Stars can also be a card about things electrical and I often read this as the internet. With Anchor as work, Stars can suggest work online or some routine work (Anchor) being done electronically (Stars) through a type of network (Stars).
Pairing Bear with Stars, there’s the possibility that the authority figure (Bear) is inspirational (Stars) or has a goal (Stars) pertaining to the future (Stars at the end of the line can be about the future) regarding work (Anchor).
Stars can be a card that points to some possible professions. For me, Stars can suggest being a guru of some sort (someone with a celebrity-like status); a life coach (who works with people helping them achieve their goals); a new age or metaphysical professional (like yours truly, or an astrologer); or a scientist.
Bear would then suggest an authority in any of those possible fields. With Anchor in-between, it could suggest this person has been working in that field/profession for a long time.
With Heart being a fan, Heart + Stars could be read as a fan becomes inspired.
The Line as a Whole
As I wrap up, I like to consider the line as a whole, reading it from left-to-right.
Taking everything into account from the pairings, a possible summation could be, “A fan (Heart) writes a passionate (Heart) letter (Letter) to an authority figure (Bear) whose long-term work (Anchor) has been an inspiration (Stars).”
Another possibility could be that “Passion (Heart) and enthusiasm (Heart) is documented (Letter) in a manifesto (Letter) by a leader (Bear) about the hard work (Anchor) needed to achieve a future goal (Stars).”
But Lenormand can offer a number of possibilities, so in the next post, I’ll take a peek at the playing cards in the reading, as well as the numbers on the cards, for any additional insights.
See you then…
