Last week saw the months change, and September ended with an auspicious day. September 29 was Michalemas, also known as the Feast of the Archangels, a day that honors Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel.
Since this week’s reading is an Angel card reading (because I rotate between Tarot, Lenormand, and Angel cards), I filmed the video on Archangel Day, and the deck I chose for the reading is the Angel Therapy Oracle Cards (by Doreen Virtue and published by Hay House). I chose this deck because it was the very first deck of Angel cards I purchased, and to this day, remains one of my personal favorites.
So, after an invocation (calling in the energies of the angels), I’m taking the deck in hand, asking Spirit and the angels for the messages pertaining to the week ahead.
The video presentation of this week’s reading is below:
If you prefer to read the text, here it is for you:
After shuffling the deck, I pulled three cards for this reading: the first for the beginning of the week; the second for the middle of the week; and the last to round out the rest of the week.
Cards for the Week
For the beginning of the week, we have Past-Life Issue.
If you subscribe to the idea of past lives, this card can suggest that a situation you’re experiencing in the present has some similarities to a previous life incarnation. You might begin recalling events from a past life in some way.
As an example, I had a dream years ago that detailed a situation from a past life. In the dream, I was a woman at the turn of the century (1800-1900s). I was a teacher at a school. I was also a witch, and was concealing that aspect of my life, in fear of being found out and persecuted.
It was the only dream I can recall that had past-life influences in it. The dream came when I got immersed in my Tarot study, so the commonality for me was the possible idea of persecution and being thought of as a witch practicing his craft.
My take on past life material is that it comes up in the present when there is something that needs healing. The angel on the card looks a little like Jesus, the Master Teacher and Healer, with his hands glowing with healing energy.
I also just realized Jesus was a person who was persecuted for practicing his craft. Hmmm…
If the idea of past lives doesn’t sit well with you, then I see this card as suggesting that you could experience something from your past—your history—coming back up into your life, like history repeating itself.
The situation might have different players, but the energy of it is similar to a previous experience. If you find this to be the case, the situation could be getting you to either take a similar action as you did in the past to resolve it—or to take a different action, in an effort to break a cycle or pattern you need to be aware exists.
If you think, feel, or believe elements of a past life are playing out in the present, you could consider working with a past-life regressionist or explore a past-life therapy to learn and heal from the experience.
If the past is repeating itself in this incarnation, consider calling on your angels to help you move through it; in the video, I suggested Archangel Chamuel, whose name means “eyes of God.” His sight is far-reaching, and can offer a perspective you might not be able to see about the recurring theme or pattern.
In addition, I mentioned Archangel Jeremiel, the angel of past-life reviews. His energy can assist you in making sense of the lessons gained from the experiences of past lives, or one’s past in the current life.
For the middle of the week, the card is Books.
Books brings in the aspect of knowledge, and I see this as learning from the experience at the beginning of the week. While every experience is a learning opportunity, it may be especially true with the sense of learning an important lesson from the past.
Another thing that comes to mind is the idea of writing a book. With Past-Life Issue coming before, the book being written might be an autobiography or memoir, with the intention of sharing a lesson learned in the past. It’s said that “life is a story” and that we all have a story to tell, so this could be the week you decide to put pen to paper (or fingers to the keyboard) and begin the process of sharing yours.
If that’s the case, you can work with Archangel Gabriel, the messenger angel and the angel of creative self-expression, to assist you with the right and perfect words to use so your “message” is clear and easily understood.
It could also be that, like Jesus, you use the art of telling parables, so that readers can take away their own lessons from the stories—based on their own level of conscious awareness.
Your book might actually be about past lives, perhaps explaining research and study on the topic, or that you’re sharing your experiences as a past-life regressionist or therapist.
Books can also suggest that, if you’re an avid reader, you might discover a book that helps you make sense of your past in a profound way.
Going with the aspect of reading, a book can be a pun for being a card “reader,” so Books can be encouraging you to study angel card reading (an angel reading the book) or some other divination system.
Besides, being a card reader, the combo of Past-Life Issue and Books can suggest being a medium and channeling information from the Other Side that you’re being called to document and share with others.
For the end of the week, we have Integrity.
When this card comes up, I read it as a situation coming up in which you’ll have to stand in your personal truth. The Integrity card carries the message that your thoughts, words, and actions be in alignment with that personal truth.
With the previous cards, it could be that, as the result of learning (Books) from the past (Past-Life Issue), you have a shift in your core value system, realizing that something you thought was important in the past is no longer true for you.
Integrity can also come up when others may want to throw your past back up at you, and you have to stand in the truth of who you are now—and how you’ve grown and moved beyond the person you used to be.
I see Integrity as being two-fold; just as we have to stand in what’s true for us—and be a reflection and demonstration of that truth (with our words and deeds)—we have to also allow those around us to stand in what’s true for them.
As an example, Books, in its text on the card, reads “spiritually based books.” You may read a spiritual book and get really jazzed and excited and want to share it with anyone who would listen. And you share with someone who doesn’t get it—but not only doesn’t get it, may also have strong opinions against it.
Rather than getting into a debate, or judging, criticizing or condemning the person—or allow them to do it to you—step back and honor their truth.
Because, as the Integrity card states, what’s right for you may not be right for another. And just as you exercise your right, allow others the same.
