If you observed Thanksgiving last week, I hope you had a wonderful time of it, as we now return to our daily routines (and begin gearing up for the Christmas holiday).
For this week’s reading, I’m turning to the Lenormand for assistance, specifically the Mystical Lenormand by Regula Elizabeth Fiechter and Urban Trösch (published by AGM-Urania).
Taking the deck in hand, I’m shuffling the cards, asking what we might expect for the week ahead.
The video below reveals the cards in the reading:
If you prefer to read the post, here it is:
The cards for the week are: Ship, Key, Heart, Stars, and Letter.
Focus of the Reading
The focus card this week, which is in the middle of the line, is Heart.
While Heart has associations with love and romance, my first go-to keywords are passion and enthusiasm.
And what I love (that was intended) about this particular depiction of the card is that the heart has flames around it. The visual makes me think of a situation that “sets your heart on fire” or a “burning” desire.
With that in mind, the focus this week could pertain to a burning passion—both in the good sense and the challenging sense. In the good sense, Heart could be asking us to focus on the things we love in our lives; in the challenging sense, we may find ourselves focusing on something that gets us “heated” emotionally, that gets our blood boiling because we’re that passionate about it.
I also get the sense that we’re being called to bring love into our interactions and experiences this week. Heart gets us to look at our “love walk” and to “put a little love in our hearts.”
Looking at the Line
The cards immediately flanking Heart, Key and Stars, form a pair that I read in a line as something more in-depth about the focus (Heart).
Key is a card of discovery and revelation, and I love (again, that was intended) how the image, which is a key within a hatched egg, reinforces these associations of the card.
Combined with Heart, the pair can suggest the discovery or revelation (Key) of a passion (Heart).
If we consider focusing on our “love walk,” the pair can then be read as “the answer (Key) is love (Heart),” as Key is also a card of answers and solutions.
On the other side, Stars is a card that’s associated with wish fulfillment, if you consider the phrase “when you wish upon a star.”
I also read Stars as inspiration, and with Heart as passion, Heart + Stars can suggest a passion (Heart) that becomes inspiring (Stars).
In the video, I mentioned this personal observation (Stars looks like an observatory window): I read Stars as divination and the metaphysical, so Heart + Stars points out my passion (Heart) for divination (Stars), and my hope is that my work inspires (Stars) those who come in contact with it.
If we go with the challenging sense I mentioned earlier, the trio of cards could suggest an issue you’re passionate (Heart) about and wanting to discover (Key) ideal solutions (Key + Stars) toward achieving a specific goal (Stars).
The outer cards, Ship and Letter, can offer information that would sum things up.
Ship, as the first card in the line, can suggest its literal aspects of transportation and travel, as people are returning home from travels over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Ship can also be talking about our metaphorical journeys through life, which the cards are saying is just as important (Ship + Key can be read as an important journey).
Navigating through these interesting times may be “key” to discovering what it is we’re passionate about, and inspiring us to action.
Which brings us to Letter, a card of news and messages. Letter is specific in its form, and that is written correspondence. This can be actual letters that come in the post, as e-mails and texts, as well as posts and articles on the internet (and Stars is an internet card).
So, the cards could be suggesting that a passion is discovered by way of a written message. It could also be that we’re inspired to take action on a passionate issue by sending out e-mails or posting messages online (or both).
I also read Letter as documents and documentation, and paired with Ship, can be read as progress (Ship) that’s documented (Letter).
With Stars as goals, the line can suggest goals (Stars) that are written (Letter), and then the progress (Ship) toward achieving those goals is documented (Letter), again with the possibility of inspiring (Stars) others.
Signing Off
And with that, I’ll keep with Letter and “sign off” on this week’s reading.
Lenormand can offer a number of possibilities, so if you’re into Lenormand and see a different scenario playing out in the cards, let me know; I’d love (yep, that was intended–I can’t help myself) to hear what you’re seeing.
