Oracle Outlook: Lenormand Reading for March 20-26, 2017

It’s been awhile since I posted a Lenormand reading in this space, and I thought I’d break in the latest Lenormand deck in my collection for this week’s reading: Le Fanu’s Lilac Dondorf.

If you’ve checked out my past readings with the Lenormand, you may have noticed that I enjoy working with the Dondorf, one of the more traditional decks out there.

One of the challenges though, for me, has been that both significator cards (Gentleman and Lady) are facing to the right.

The reason being is that if I were doing a reading about a relationship between a man and a woman, there would be no possibility of the people facing each other in a line or a tableau.

And that’s what I love about the Lilac Dondorf: There are additional Gentleman and Lady cards—and each of those face the opposite direction, so I can not only do readings about heterosexual couples, but also for gay and lesbian couples as well—and all having the possibility of “facing” their partners in a line or tableau.

And because of this feature, Le Fanu’s Lilac Dondorf will now be my working Dondorf deck.

Taking the deck in hand, I’m shuffling the cards, asking the question, “What do we need to know about the week ahead?”

The cards for the week are: Lady, Garden, Bear, Tower, and Bouquet.

Focus of the Reading

The focus card this week, which is in the middle of the line, is Bear.

Two of my keywords for Bear are strength and power. As the focus card, Bear could be alluding to the possibility that strength may be required to get through the week (depending on what’s presented in the surrounding cards), or that you’ll be stronger as a person after having gone through certain situations throughout the week.

With regard to power, my first thought was that this could be a week of standing in your personal power.

Speaking of power, Bear is what I call the “boss” card, and can point to a person with authority and influence. As such, this reinforces the idea of someone in the public eye or having some public standing; someone who has some power, which could be a boss, manager, supervisor, or leader, and issues pertaining to that individual.

Looking at the Line

The cards immediately flanking Bear, Garden and Tower, form a pair that I read in a line as more in-depth information about the central issue.

Garden is a card that is associated with other people, and can represent a group or community. It’s also a card of the public and being social, highlighting spaces and places where people congregate and get together.

With Bear coming after Garden, we have the possibility of a strong and powerful group or community; a meeting or gathering of powerful people; or an audience with a leader or influential person.

Tower is a card that can represent a company, corporation, firm, or some type of institution. I also tend to read Tower as something having to do with local, state, or federal politics, because Tower can be read as rules, regulations, laws, and policies.

With Bear coming before Tower, we have a boss of a company, a corporate leader in office, or an authority on politics.

So, Garden + Tower can represent an official meeting, either of a business (corporate) or political nature.

Now here’s an interesting thing to note with this pair: There’s a dichotomy present, as Garden represents being social, while Tower can also represent seclusion, isolation and withdrawal.

So, this official meeting can either be held in a public forum with an audience (spectators)—or behind the closed doors of an “ivory tower.”

I also notice something else with these cards, as that is both are from the suit of Spades, if you consider the playing card inserts. Spades, as they appear in the Lenormand system, indicate service; so Garden can refer to public service and Tower can refer to official service.

This additional element can suggest how a corporate or political entity or group is serving its public, to some degree.

The outer cards, Lady and Bouquet, can offer information that would sum things up.

Can I just tell how I love it when the Universe follows me up during a reading? (I really do.)

I opened this reading up by first talking about the deck and why I like this particular deck—and here we have one of the additions of the deck showing up, which is Lady—facing the left.

You just can’t make this stuff up. Seriously.

Lady, being a significator card, just tells us a woman figures prominently into things this week. If you’re a woman, Lady represents you; if you’re a man, Lady can represent a woman close or significant to you.

The other cards will serve to describe her more.

Bear, as the focus card, could point to her as the strong and powerful authority that at the center of the situation reflected in the line this week.

And let’s look at the layout: Lady, as the first card in the line, looks as if she’s “heading things up”—kind of like a leader, wouldn’t you say?

Bouquet, as the last card in the line, can represent a surprise, a gift, or an invitation (my chief keywords for the card). I also read this card as talent and appreciation, or that talent is being appreciated (as a hybrid of the two).

So, Lady + Bouquet can be read as an inviting woman, a surprised woman, a talented woman, an appreciative woman.

With Lady not facing Bouquet, the pair can suggest a woman giving her appreciation for something, or that she has offered some gift or surprise (if Lady was facing Bouquet, it would suggest a woman on the receiving end).

And, like the pairing of Garden + Tower, Lady + Bouquet are also cards from the suit of Spades, making four out of the five cards in the line from the same suit.

And Bouquet has the insert of the Queen of Spades, making this a “face” card, and could also represent a woman, making this a situation that potentially involves two women, each at opposite ends of the spectrum (going with their placement in the line).

If we contemplate them as a pair, a possible interpretation could be that the women are in disagreement, making Bear, at the center of the line, a possible “power” struggle (and the insert of a card from the suit of Clubs can suggest conflict) that has the women at odds.

And the Queen of Spades is facing Lady—but Lady has her back to her, as if to suggest the Queen of Spades offering some token (gift) of appreciation that’s being ignored, rejected, and not accepted.

Reading the Line

Taking all the combinations and pairings into account, a possible summation of the line could be:

A woman (Lady) turns her back (Lady not facing the rest of the cards)  publicly (Garden) on a company or corporate leader (Bear + Tower) in a surprising separation (Tower + Bouquet).

Bringing Things to a Close…

On that note, I’ll bring this week’s reading to a close.
