The Lenormand’s on deck for this week’s reading, and rather than turning to my typical go-to deck, the Piatnik Lenormand, I was prompted (at the very last minute before sitting down to shoot the video below) to use my copy of the Mystical Lenormand, which is by Regula Elizabeth Fiechter & Urban Trösch (and published by AGM Urania).
What was the prompt? I was “flashed” an image of the Whip card, and immediately thought of the conflict (one of the meanings of the card) making news of late (more shootings involving law enforcement, the unrest taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina as a result, and the divorce shocker with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie that looks to become nasty with allegations of abuse being made), as well as the upcoming debate (another meaning of Whip) between presidential nominees Hilary Clinton & Donald Trump (airing Monday, September 26).
I thought I’d follow the prompt, and see if Whip “happens” to show up in the reading.
Taking the deck in hand, I’m shuffling the cards, asking what we might expect for the week ahead.
The video below reveals the cards in the reading:
If you prefer to read the post, here it is:
The cards for the week are: Anchor, Sun, Fox, Whip, and Crossroads.
Focus of the Reading
The focus card this week, which is in the middle of the line, is Fox.
Fox has its positive associations, as well as its challenging ones. On the positive side, Fox can indicate job and employment, and I see this as self-employment. With that in mind, Fox can talk about one’s skill and craft.
On the challenging side, Fox can talk about being cunning, and with that, the possibility of manipulation, of being taken advantage of. Fox can be about cheating, being conned and scammed.
Fox can also suggest something being bad or wrong, or that a mistake has been made.
Looking at the Line
The cards immediately flanking Fox, Sun and Whip, form a pair that I read in a line as something more in-depth about the focus (Fox).
Sun is one of the best cards in the deck, and can talk about success and confidence. I read it as illumination and enlightenment, because Sun outshines all other cards when it appears.
Sun can also be an indication that positive energy is needed in a situation; it’s like having a “sunny disposition.”
And here we have Whip, the card that was flashed in my mind, prompting me to use this deck this week. As I stated earlier, Whip can indicate conflict and strife, which can come in the form of heated words, arguments, and fights that become physical.
In a more positive light (Sun), Whip has become a card that can represent discipline and training, if Fox is read as a job and employment. Sun + Whip could then be a day (Sun) of training (Whip). Fox + Whip could then indicate someone who has a job or is employed (Fox) as a personal trainer (Whip).
With Fox being a mistake, the trio could suggest the illumination (Sun) of a mistake (Fox), resulting in someone beating him- or herself up (Whip) for it. Whip can also be repetitive activity, so the mistake (Fox) could be made repeatedly (Whip).
The outer cards, Anchor and Crossroads, can offer information that would sum things up.
For me, Anchor is a work card, which could then make Fox an employee on the job. Anchor talks about work that is long-term, somewhat routine, may be hard or serious labor, and allows for some stability and security.
Anchor can also suggest a need for persistence and perseverance—and hope.
Crossroads can talk about choices, options, and alternatives. At the end of the line, it can suggest that a choice or decision about the future will be faced this week. Crossroads can suggest a departure and going in a new direction, or adopting a new approach toward a situation.
At this point I would typically look at the dynamics of the line using the playing card inserts. The Mystical Lenormand was designed without the inserts, and even though I have them committed to memory, I was also prompted to experiment with the line and try something different.
When I present readings with Tarot and Angel cards, I have the cards represent the beginning, middle, and the end of the week. I’ll be doing that with combinations in the line.
Cards for the Week
For the beginning of the week, we have the trio Anchor + Sun + Fox.
A possibility is that security (Anchor) is illuminated (Sun) with an investigation (Fox). I’m seeing this as making a possible statement about the security breach of the data of 500 million people with Yahoo e-mail accounts being investigated that I heard about on the news. The last I heard, the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations) was investigating the situation. And people were cautioned about the possibility of being sent “scam” e-mails from these accounts. There may be more news about this situation at the beginning of the week.
On a more positive note, the trio can suggest that work (Anchor) leads to success (Sun) for an employee (Fox).
For the middle of the week, there’s Sun + Fox + Whip.
The thing that I see here is the possibility of talk about the success (Sun) of a debate strategy (Fox + Whip), because the first debate between Clinton and Trump will have taken place by midweek.
Conversely, the cards could also be read as highlights (Sun) of the repeated mistakes (Fox + Whip) during the debate (Whip). It could be, of course, the candidates themselves highlighting the mistakes of each other, citing their individual ways of being cunning, of manipulation and taking advantage of others.
One topic that’s sure to be raised is for clarification (Sun) on a strategy (Fox) regarding the repeated conflicts (Whip) taking place throughout the nation.
On another front, there may be further illumination (Sun) on the investigation (Fox) regarding the abuse (Whip) allegations being made against actor Brad Pitt.
For the end of the week, there’s Fox + Whip + Crossroads.
Since I touched on Brad Pitt, this trio could suggest an investigation (Fox) about abuse (Whip) is decided on (Crossroads).
Aside from that, there may also be allegations of cheating (Fox + Whip) repeatedly (Whip) that led to the decision (Crossroads) to split.
If Fox is about employment, the trio could imply that an investigation (Fox) of repeated mistakes (Fox + Whip) lead to both a decision (Crossroads) and a possible departure (Crossroads).
Essence of the Line
Now that we’ve looked at some possibilities for the beginning, middle, and end of the week, let’s round out the reading by seeing what the essence card is.
Adding up the numbers on the cards in the line, we have a total of 113 (35 + 31 + 14 + 11 + 22 = 113). The total is over 36 (the number of cards in the deck), so the total gets reduced: 1 + 1 + 3 = 5. The 5th card is Tree.
Tree is a card that can talk about health and healing. With Fox (the focus card) as an indicator of job and employment, it reinforces the possibility of work as a personal trainer, as that is a health-related field.
If Fox represents self-employment, Tree could refer to skill (Fox) as a healer (Tree), and a need for a strategy (Fox) to grow (Tree) that business. Tree, in this sense, could be about “branching out” once the “roots” are firmly in place. Tree also is about having patience, as trees take time to grow.
If Fox is about coming up with a strategy pertaining to the conflict (Whip) repeatedly (Whip) experienced across the nation, Tree is about coming up with a plan to help heal the strife and conflict. Tree is about reaching out and developing connection rather than separation.
Tree, as a card of both personal and spiritual growth and development, can be asking each of us individually to consider how these experiences are serving our own process of growth and healing.
Over to You
If you’re like the majority of my Lenormand audience and also read the cards, you might see something different with the line. If you do, I would love to hear about it!
And on that note, I’ll bring this week’s reading to a close. I’m hoping you have an awesome week, and I look forward to seeing you back here for the next Oracle Outlook.
Great points. Thank u.
Thanks, Cara. I appreciate you checking out the post! 🙂
